Nature’s ARTcade: A Regional Art Exhibit

Today I found out that Winter’s Swamp will be included in Nature’s ARTcade: A Regional Art Exhibit inspired by the natural world of Southern Maryland. The exhibition will be on view from June 7-29, with an opening reception on June 7th from 7-9pm, at the Flag Ponds Nature Education Center on the western shore of the Chesapeake Bay. Jurors for the exhibit include Jayme McLellan, artist, educator, curator and founder and director of Washington DC’s Civilian Art Projects, and Tom Horton, former environmental editor for the Baltimore Sun and author of several books about the Chesapeake Bay. For more information and hours, visit the Battle Creek Nature Education Society website.

Winter’s Swamp captures the dark mystery of Battle Creek Bald Cyprus Swamp in early winter. It was shot with the app Pro 645 and processed entirely on my iPhone with the apps AutoStitch, Filterstorm, ModernGrunge and PhotoToaster. The final archival pigment print is 17×9″ and printed on bamboo-fiber paper.
