The Emotional Landscape at the Greenbelt Community Center Art Gallery

On Sunday, May 3rd from 1:30-3:00pm is the reception for my solo exhibit, The Emotional Landscape, at the Greenbelt Community Center Art Gallery in Greenbelt, MD. The exhibit features 20 landscapes of recent work, and will be on view until June 5th.

All of us have a deep connection to places and landscapes from our past and present. Through our memories, we see these places not as they are, but through the filter of emotion. My recent work explores the emotional qualities of landscapes where I feel a deep connection.

Early Morning, The Hollow, shown above, was photographed in Keating Summit, Pennsylvania. My uncle has owned 800 acres of land among the hills of Potter County for over 50 years. I took my first steps on the porch of the farmhouse that sits on the property. I have a deep connection to this place and the landscape. More than any other place, the landscape of Keating Summit has inspired me.

I photographed Early Morning, The Hollow with the camera-replacement app Pro Camera 8, and processed the image using AutoStitch, Mextures, and Modern Grunge. The final achival pigment print is 33.5×17″, and was printed on bamboo-fiber paper.
